Returning to Jakku (and Mustafar)
From Revenge of the Sith to The Jaws of Jakku, it's an exciting time for Star Wars book fans.
New York Comic Con is upon us — and there’s a Lucasfilm Publishing panel coming up this weekend that I’m going to break down in detail right after it ends. So make sure you stick around so you don’t miss that!
Here’s a quick rundown of what happened in Star Wars books and on Now This Is Lit this week — including a look at what you can expect from the show next week, October 14.
New Star Wars Books and Comics Out This Week
Star Wars: The Blueprints: Designs and Artwork from the Skywalker Saga came out earlier this week — a reference book plenty of fans aren’t going to want to miss.
There are also two new Star Wars comics out this week — Hyperspace Stories: Tides of Terror 2 (Dark Horse) and Han Solo: Hunt for the Falcon 2 (Marvel).
Mike Chen, Matthew Stover, and the Sun-Dragon
When I first started exploring the larger Star Wars books community, I suddenly heard everyone telling me to read Matthew Stover’s Revenge of the Sith novelization. I didn’t understand — until I read it, and did — why a film novelization was so highly regarded in the fandom.
In case you missed it, Star Wars author Mike Chen joined me on this week’s episode of Now This Is Lit to discuss his love for the book, and how he has honored Stover’s work in his own storytelling in a galaxy far, far away, Plus … some teasers for Low Red Moon, out this February!
Check out the episode if you haven’t already! It was such a delight to get to finally sit down to share our fascination with this book. I’m really proud of this conversation, and I hope you give it the chance it deserves.
Somehow, We’re All Going Back to Jakku
So far, Audible’s original Star Wars udiobooks have absolutely been worth the subscription, and I have no doubt Cavan Scott’s first addition to this series, The Jaws of Jakku, will follow suit. (The story releases on October 9, but as I’m writing this, I have not yet listened to it.)
The story takes place after the events of The Last Jedi, and follows Rey Skywalker as she returns to Jakku in hopes of making peace with the miserable years she spent alone on the planet.
The story is less than four hours long, kid-friendly, and no doubt an adventure you won’t want to miss. If you’re not in a position to pay for Audible right now, you can use my affiliate link to start a 30-day free trial, which will give you access to this story and one free credit to spend on any audiobook you choose.
My spoiler-free review of The Jaws of Jakku will be out this coming Tuesday — but you can listen to it two days early if you join the NTIL Community. That will also give you access to some exclusive shows and other fun perks you can’t get anywhere else!
Now This Is Lit is a podcast (and newsletter!) about Star Wars books, the people who make them, and the readers who just can’t get enough of them. You can find the show wherever you get your podcasts, and subscribe to the Substack for more deep dives, guides, interview transcripts, and book love.
